When APA formatting guidelines aren’t provided, adapt APA general principles (based on student research paper design) to your writing project. Apply APA styles to title pages and page layout.

APA page layout for the review of literature follows guidelines for the research paper — with the exception that no running heads are required for the student paper. Here’s a list of page formatting standards for almost all APA writing projects:

· One-inch margins on all four sides

· Page numbering in the top-right corner

· Double spacing between lines and headings

· Running head optional (ask your professor)

· Times New Roman font, 12-point size

· Hard page breaks prior to headings such as abstract, introduction, reference, and appendices

Your professor may require APA’s professional scholarly title page version, which includes a running head. Figure 16-8 shows a title page for a literature review that a junior or senior may be required to use.
