Set 75 - in the grip of the fear of the unknown

Amanda: I’m worrying about this heat wave and whether it will make my daughter’s birthday party a miserable failure. I’m completely powerless.

Claudia: What’s wrong with you, Amanda? You keep borrowing trouble! You can’t really worry about things that are way in the future.

As they say “Don’t cross that bridge until you get to it.”

Amanda: I admit that I’m a worrier but I’m picking up your brain about back-up plans. It is wise to check your fire extinguishers before the fire occurs. Isn’t it? I just like to keep things in perspective.

Claudia: But being obsessed with planning for every single matter in the future will weigh you down. We do so much to try and protect ourselves and our kids but at the end of the day we miss our joy in the present by dwelling on possibilities.

Amanda: Good point. Apparently I’m living in the grip of the fear of the unknown. I might have to learn to take things as they come.
