Two important exceptions
Subject-verb agreement
Revising at the word level

There are two important exceptions to the standard rules described here. One involves the word I, and the other involves the word you. When I and you are used as subjects, they always appear with the base verb. These are correct examples: I want, I sing, and I give; you want, you sing, and you give. Even though I is singular and you can be singular or plural in its meaning, each pronoun— I and you—agrees with a base verb.
