Accountants, architects, engineers, scientists, and other technical professionals often make calculations, drawings, or evaluations using specialized software. Microsoft Excel remains the most commonly used tool for making calculations. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer, AutoCAD, GIMP, Inkscape, and many more drawing programs are available for preparing drawings and editing images.

Scientists often use chemical, mechanical, and electronic instruments. If your documents include calculations, charts, or graphic elements, it is best to complete your analysis and have the results ready as tables and graphics before beginning to write.
