Step 4 – Organize

Consider how you will capture the readers’ attention at the beginning of a document. Here are possible approaches:

· Ask a question

· State a startling or interesting fact

· Share a pithy quotation or aphorism

· Link to a current event, recall a past occasion, or foretell a coming incident

· Tell a short story or relevant analogy

Link the initial part of your message to your readers’ interests or needs. Help your readers believe that the document will provide value for them.
