7 Steps to Better Writing - Charles Maxwell 2020
Check the sound
Step 6 – Revise
For writing to be intelligible, it should sound natural. The best way to test for unaffected flow and clarity is to hear your words. You can do this by reading it aloud, by asking someone else to read it aloud, or by using software to read it aloud.
Text readers
Text-to-speech readers are powerful tools for improving your writing. Good text readers include:
· Microsoft Office’s built-in reader called Speak in older versions and Read Aloud in newer versions
· Natural Reader by NaturalSoft Ltd., www.naturalreaders.com, $100-$200
· Balabolka by Cross+A, www.cross-plus-a.com/balabolka.htm, free
Most smart phones and many electronic tablets also have built-in text reading capability.
