Step 6 – Revise

Practice is indispensable to learning how to edit. You learn by doing. Start with where you are now and determine that you will improve at least one aspect of your writing. Perhaps it is to write shorter, simpler sentences. Maybe it is to use more active voice. Perchance it is to subjugate ideas. Whatever it is, get started and go from one technique to the next. In time, the techniques will become second nature. And, gradually—but ever so surely—your skill as a writer will grow.
