Last person standing
Games and activities for lower-level students

Skills: Speaking/Listening

Time: 5-10 minutes

Materials: Nothing

Choose a topic based on whatever you're teaching. Some examples are jobs, food, animals, things in the kitchen or classroom, etc. Have all the students stand up in a circle. Clap your hands in a beat 1-2-3 and say a word related to that topic. Continue the 1-2-3 rhythm and have the next person in the circle say a different word related to the topic. If students repeat a word, or don't have one, then they must sit down and the game continues with the remaining players. The game finishes when there is one person standing.

Procedure:

1. Have students stand in a circle and assign a topic.

2. Clap your hands in a 1-2-3 beat and say the first word related to the topic.

3. Continue the rhythm and have the next student says a different word related to the topic. If students repeat a word or don't have one, they must sit down.

5. The game continues until there is one person left standing.
