Inspect what you have
Strengthen

After all that ranting and raving about how terrible you think your work is, it’s very weird to get to this phase and suddenly have to pull your work to pieces.

You’ll find that things aren’t so bad after all, in some spots. (And other areas make you want to hide under the nearest rock.)

Be strong. Be brutal. Be honest.

But don’t be unfair.

It’s not a question of whether your work is “good” or not. Some of it’s good, some of it isn’t. That’s true of all writing. The words you’re reading right now — my words — some of it’s good, and some of it isn’t.

Doesn’t matter.

The question is how effective is it? How clear is it?

Ask yourself whether it works or not. Whether it gets your idea across in the best possible way.

In the next chapter, we’ll put your Problem List to good use.

And you’ll finally — finally — have a way of fixing all that rubbish that just spilled out of you.

Not a bad deal, dontcha think?
