We learned in Chapter 1 that the word order of an English sentence is subject + predicate. In questions, if the verb is be, the order of the subject and the verb are reversed, but the rest of the predicate remains in place. (For verbs other than be, a different process occurs.)

That man is my father.

Is that lady your mother?
