Exercise 1. Order of adverbs of place and time. Add the adverbs of place and time to the sentences below. In all cases, have the adverb of place precede the adverb of time.

Exercise 2. Position of the adverb ONLY. Use the word only at the beginning of the sentence, and rewrite the sentences as shown in the example.

Example:

He could succeed by hard work.

Only by hard work could he succeed.

1. That award will be given to a brave man.

2. Something like that would occur to a judge.

3. You can succeed by trying.

4. Those children can regain their strength by eating nutritious foods.

5. You can avoid accidents by driving carefully.

6. His eyesight can be restored by an operation.

7. Mr. White could expect to get that sum of money from the bank.

8. The reward will be given to a boy who shows outstanding courage.

9. His debt to society can be repaid only by a prison term.

10. I would do that for a very old friend.
