Exercise 1. Negation with the noun determiner NO. Make the sen­tences below negative by using the word no.

Example:

I don’t have any money.

I have no money.

1. Were there any children there?

2. Does he have any friends?

3. I can’t speak any Spanish.

4. We don’t have any time.

5. Don’t you have a home?

6. Don’t we have any meat for supper?

7. That country doesn’t have any sugar to export.

8. We wanted to swim, but we couldn’t find a suitable place.

9. Because of insufficient rainfall, they could not grow crops.

10. They wanted to do it, but they couldn’t find time.

Exercise 2. The noun determiner ALL. Use the noun determiner all in two different places in the sentences below.

Example:

Birds lay eggs.

All birds lay eggs.

Birds all lay eggs.

1. The jewels are mine.

2. Those houses are for sale.

3. Her sisters are nurses.

4. Aren’t your books on the shelf?

5. Are the vegetables fresh?

6. The remaining books are yours.

7. Is Australia’s wool exported?

8. The classrooms have enough light.

9. The boys have disappeared.

10. The men were disappointed by the news.

Example: I have a few friends in this city.
