Lesson Nineteen. Conjunctions

There are now only two more boxes, conjunctions and interjections.

Conjunctions are words that join together words, phrases or sentences. They are like the links that join railway wagons together. Here are some examples.

The woodcutter looked at the gold axe, but he refused to take it.

Will you have the gold axe, or will you have the silver axe?

Here is a long ’train’ joined by conjunctions. It isn’t a very good sentence because it has too many conjunctions in it, but it will show you what conjunctions can do.
