Если глагол оканчивается на согласный, перед которым стоит один гласный, то в форме с -ing согласный удваивается, напр.:
sit —sitting, put — putting.
Attention!
Если глагол оканчивается на -w, -у, то удвоения нет, напр.:
show — showing, play — playing.
