Exercise 2.5 Reviewing Paragraphs
Building Paragraphs
Part 2. Writing the Draft

Choose two or three descriptive paragraphs from your reading book or science or social studies text. Read the paragraphs. For each one, identify the main idea. Find the topic sentence and the supporting details. Notice how details support and expand the main idea.

Concentrate on building solid paragraphs in your writing. Remember to organize each paragraph around a main idea. Express that idea in a topic sentence and provide supporting details. For additional practice with paragraphs, do Worksheets 2.5, 2.6, and 2.7 at the end of this section.
