Finishing Your Essay
Section Eight — Original Writing
Examiners really love a good ending. Your conclusion should make a point, have a twist or have some kind of moral. And then of course it's time to check it over.
Finish With a Conclusion
Keep Re-drafting — Until it’s Just Right
1) Edit what you've written when you've finished your first draft.
2) Take time to tweak your story to get it as near-to-perfect as possible.
3) Read each paragraph through carefully and underline the bits you could improve on:
✵ Could you go into more detail or change the wording to make yourself clearer?
✵ Is there a better word you could find to describe something?
✵ Have you repeated or over-used words or expressions?
Check Your Grammar and Presentation Carefully
I conclude with the observation that this section is almost over
Don't panic. People often find this the scariest bit of all, but it really isn't. Just learn everything in this section really well, and you'll be fine. You might even surprise yourself.
