Punctuation means all the dots, commas and other symbols that you need to put in your writing. And it's not just to make your essays look pretty — it's there for a reason.

Use Capital Letters and Full Stops Properly

Pretty basic stuff — you NEED to use them correctly to get anything beyond a grade F.

1) Always start sentences with a capital letter...

2) ...and always end sentences with a full stop.

3) Full stops mark a definite pause before the next sentence starts.

Use Commas to Put Pauses in Sentences

You need to use commas to get decent marks. Learn the 3 rules below to improve your grade, instantly.

Ellipses and Dashes Mark a Long Pause

Ellipses and Dashes Mark a Long Pause

1) Ellipses are just 'dot dot dot' to you and me.

2) Ellipses mark a really long pause... even longer than a full stop.

3) Dashes do basically the same thing — and they separate parts of a sentence nicely.

4) Dashes and ellipses are quite informal so only use them in original writing.

You NEED to learn this stuff on punctuation just think how hard it would be to read something without punctuation i'm sure it would drive you up the wall it's the same for the examiners they can't stand it at all so use it I tell you use it use it use it
