Examine each visual in your paper. Is it concise? Can you hide details in the appendices or footnotes? Is the visual essential? Is it rapidly understandable to a reader who is not an expert in your field? Is it autonomous and understandable without any support from your main text? Should it appear earlier or later in the paper?
