Practical models for technical communication - Shannon Kelley 2021

Acknowledgements

Practical Models for Technical Communication is the result of countless hours of faculty and student input. Faculty on the development team visited classes, surveyed students, and analyzed the content of all the leading technical communication textbooks.

This book has undergone three labor-intensive development editions since 2018 that involved additional research, writing, and design work. This collaborative process has been as instructive as the book itself, and Chemeketa Press is grateful for the expertise and dedication of who those have helped shape the book, from initial outline to the complete first edition.

We offer thanks to the following faculty for their contributions: Greg Berry, Shobana Breeden, Chris Cottrell, Liaken Hadley, Adam Karnes, Brian Mosher, Magdalen Powers, and Catherine Shride. We also appreciate those who field-tested the development editions of this book and/or provided feedback: Lani Davison, Matthew Hodgson, Layli Liss, Jean Mittelstaedt, Ruth Perkins, Suzanne Spencer, Cindy Ulshafer, Jan VanStavern, and Jaime Zinck. Thank you to those who offered feedback or reviewed the book’s outline in its early stages of development: Aaron Bannister, Ryan Davis, Jeffrey McAlpine, and Peter Starr. Additionally, we want to recognize the support of the English department with special thanks to the WR227 work group, where some of the first conversations about the direction of this book took place.

Our students are the heart of everything we do, and we want to acknowledge a few by name who have made significant contributions to this project: Brandi Harbison, Nadia Isom, Shaun Jaquez, Cassandra Johns, Leo Martinez, Tiana Miller, Matt Sanchez, Brice Spreadbury, and Taylor Wynia.

This book would not have been possible without a grant from John and Bobbie Clyde. Their generous gift supported the involvement of faculty in this project.

The author thanks Don Brase and Kim Colantino for entrusting her with this project. She would also like to thank Leslie Kimiko Ward, a partner in all things, for her patience and creative support.
