Vocabulary research and ESP

This chapter has looked at specialised vocabulary in research into teaching and learning, as well as testing. Overall, we have seen that while there are some examples of research into teaching and learning, there is scope for so much more, particularly given the huge number of EAP and ESP courses worldwide. Specialised word lists have had some impact in dictionary and textbook developments, particularly in EAP, but little research has examined the effectiveness of integrating word lists into curriculum, materials design and assessment.
