Put yourself in the place of your readers
Step 1 – Identify readers & Purpose
When writing factual material, you need to know who your readers are, or at least imagine who they might be. If your audience is indistinct, your message will be vague or inappropriate.
Ask the questions:
· Who wants me to write this?
· Who will read it?
· Are my readers looking for a solution to a problem? Are they seeking an explanation, justification, affirmation, consolation, or something else?
· What do my readers think and feel?
