In this pattern, a characteristic verb is followed by a noun and an adjective modifier. The verb may express judgment, in which case the adjective names the state of the noun at the same time as the main verb; or the verb may express desire or causation, in which, case the adjective names a state of the noun that is future with respect to the main verb.
We consider him intelligent.
Please make the trousers longer.
I like my coffee hot.
