This chapter has focused on specialised vocabulary in school through examples of research in different contexts and subject areas. It is clear that much more research is needed in secondary schools to find out more about specialised vocabulary, for example, in a wider variety of subject areas, as well as the progression of vocabulary from early to later years in school. The next chapter focuses on vocabulary in university contexts.
